Red Cross' Las Vegas commercial (USA)

09|03|2003

The World's happiest Mayor and one of the world's best known singers have collaborated on a television ad aimed at raising the $300,000 needed for the Red Cross' Las Vegas flood relief effort.
Mayor Oscar Goodman and Strip headliner Celine Dion filmed the spot Wednesday, September 3rd, 2003 night at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, where Dion performs.
The advertisement, which is expected to begin airing the following day, will publicize Las Vegas' "30 Days of Giving" campaign to encourage donations to the victims of August's floods in the northwest valley.
"We have some great, great Las Vegas entertainers who have been here a long time ... Celine is the star of today," Goodman said. "I hope we go way over the $300,000 mark. If we don't it will be a great disappointment."
The money will be used to cover the cost of meals, clothing, medical supplies and emergency shelter provided by the Red Cross since the August 19 deluge.
