On Monday, January 11, 1999, the 26th Annual American Music Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, and was presented during a three hour special on ABC, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.

Celine Dion won three awards for "Pop Rock Favorite Female Artist", "Adult Contemporary Favorite Artist" and "Favorite Soundtrack" for the song "My Heart Will Go On".
