On Friday, July 26, 2013, Celine Dion was officially presented with the insignia of Companion of the Order of Canada - the highest civilian honour for which she was named in 2008 - by Governor General David Johnston. The ceremony was held at the Citadel of Quebec.
Rene Angelil, her husband, was also presented with an insignia officially naming him as a Member of the Order of Canada.
