On Friday, July 26, 2024, took place the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, which took place on the Seine (Paris).
Céline closed the ceremony, which lasted 3h15, by singing Edith Piaf’s Hymne à l'Amour on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower.
The surprise was great, since it is the first performance of Céline in more than 4 years.
The organization of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games had planned 3 possible scenarios for Céline’s performance:
1) From the 1st floor of the Eiffel Tower
2) In case of wind, thunderstorm and other… performance from the Trocadero stage, in front of officials
3) If Céline had declined, for health reasons, they would have passed the version of Edith Piaf.
Céline was accompanied by her Musical Director: Scott Price
She wore a custom made Dior dress for this performance.
