On Thursday, September 1, 2005, Celine Dion gave a news conference at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Before the dedication of the hotel's new 26-story, 949-room Augustus Tower, Dion pledged $1 million to the relief fund for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The money, offered by Dion and her partners Concerts West/AEG and Dragone, come from the receipts of her Las Vegas show, A New Day. The money will be given to the American Red Cross.
