On April 11, 2008, Celine Dion gave a press conference at the Hyatt Hotel in Shanghai, China to talk about the "Taking Chances Tour". There, Celine received an award from Sony Music Asia/China division president, for the album sales of "Taking Chances" in China. During the conference, former Chinese gymnast Sang Lan received the first ticket for the concert, with a special serial number and Kan Ke, deputy director of BOCOG´s cultural activities department, expressed hope that the "Beijing Olympic Games" could have a musical piece that would appeal to people all over the world. After the conference, Celine was interviewed for a segment aired later on Dragon TV and CCTV3 channels in China.
In the evening, Celine Dion gave a concert at the Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai, China. On backstage, she met with Zya (希亚), a Chinese singer.
